It is with great excitement that MECRA presents all of our courses along with self-pacing practices.


MECRA will provide in-depth and practical education and training opportunities to those persons wishing to test for state certification for CER and CEO.

Module 1  
 

  • Review the Court Reporter Manual - Sections 1 - 3  Click here

  • Download the FTR software to your computer - Click here 

  • Print the Court Reporter Manual - tab out all sections of manual

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

  • Log George Thomas and Zander Eaton hearings - Review logging video in the Student Only tab first.

  • Submit your progress on Module 1 to the tab on the right.  The password for Module 2 will be provided after submission.

Module 2  

​

  • Review and test on Court Reporter Manual - Section 4 - 5

  • Prepare and proof Title Pages from Manual (CER only)

  • Prepare and proof Table of Content Pages from Manual (CER only)

  • Word Processing Software Shortcuts (CER only)

  • Log court proceedings from television programs or YouTube at home for approximately one (1) hour.

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

  • Submit your progress on Module 2 to the tab on the right.  The password for Module 3 will be provided after submission.

Module 3

  • Review and test on Court Reporter Manual - Section 6

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

  • Starting from Scratch - Preparing your own Transcript Template (CER only)

  • Log the proceeding of George Thomas

Module 4 -  â€‹

  • Review and test on Court Reporter Manual - Section 7

  • Complete Quiz on Section 7

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

  • Prepare a transcript from your court and time yourself for two hours from audio.  (CER only)

  • Review Section 4 Logging of the manual by outlining all the key elements that must be in your log sheets

Module 5

  • Grammar review and test on Court Reporter Manual - Section 8 (CER only)

  • Log additional audio provided by SCAO 

  • Transcribe additional audio provided by SCAO (CER only)

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

Module 6  

​

  • Review and test on Court Reporter Manual - Sections 9 and 10

  • Complete Quiz on Section 9 and 10

  • Complete proofing exercise on MECRA website (CER only)

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

Module 7 - Available as of 1/31/2019

​

  • Medical Terminology review and testing

  • Type the George Thomas Transcript from Audio in a timed session of 2 hours and 45 minutes

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

Module 8 - Available as of 1/31/2019

​

  • Latin Terminology review and testing

  • Log the simulated exam - Zander Eaton

  • Legal Terminology review and testing

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

Module 9 - Available as of 1/31/2019

​

  • Transcribe the simulated exam - Zander Eaton in a timed session of 2 hours (CER only)

  • Complete a typing test on www.typingtest.com

Module 10 - Available as of 1/31/2019

​

  • Log and prepare the additional simulated exam samples of your choice (CEO log only)

  • Performing duties as a clerk and court recorder

  • Courtroom equipment and technology overview

Module 11 - Available as of 2/10/2019

​

  • Simulated written exam and submission.

  • Set up a one-on-one consultation with an instructor prior to the exam
